By learning these basic knot tecniques you can create wonders such as wall hangings, plant hangers, bags, dream cathers and much more. Before you're ready to start learning how to macrame, get the necessary materials and be familiar with some common macrame terms you'll need to know.
You will need any type of Macrame Cord; Rope, String or Braided cord is up to you. With all these kinds it possible to create any macrame design. Then you'll need something to tie your knots to; dowel rods, hoops or rings. We have used a dowel rod for these knots and a scissor to cut cords. There are a few important macrame terms you need to know before you can get started;
• Working Cord: The cord that you use to make the actual knots.
• Filler Cord: The cord that your knots wrap around or the cord that are in the center of the knotting cords.
• Wrapping Cord: The cord used to gather and wrap a group of cords. You’ll see this at the top of a plant hanger.
• Knotting Cords: The right and left cords that are used to tie knots over filler cords.
